Do you have a bottle of ranch in your cabinet or refrigerator?
Be honest, it's o.k!
For over 40 years, ranch has been a staple in most people's homes. It really is awesome on most everything. And even for those few of you who don't like it, you probably still have it because when you have company over, chances are they like it!
And I've never had a bottle of ranch go bad...it lasts FOREVER!
Of course, one should always be leery of those things that last FOREVER!
The idea of ranch came from a couple who owned a dude ranch, called Hidden Valley Ranch, back in the 1950's. What an awesome way to expand your brand. I plan on making pickles outside of just vegetable farming...Isle Acre Farms Pickles...(Be on the look out for those!)
In the 1970's the recipe was sold to Clorox.
Did you really say Clorox??
THEY STILL OWN IT TODAY!
Not 100% sure why Clorox would want it since they're mainly known for their cleaning products, but none the less, they're a big massive company who knows a good thing when they see it (they actually own a lot of random things unrelated to cleaning and each other).
I don't know about you but I'm not so trusting of the ingredients in this store bought ranch coming from a highly chemical filled company.
But the stuff still tastes good!
So let's figure out how we can minimize ingredients and make this way more healthier and better to eat!
Homemade Ranch Dip
1 cup of mayonnaise (they're are some good mayonnaise out there like this one where they ingredients are minimal and healthier)
1/2 cup of plain organic Greek yogurt
2 cloves finely chopped garlic (you can substitute garlic powder)
1/2 a small onion finely chopped (you can substitute onion powder)
1 Tbls parsley
1 Tbls dill (optional)
Blend all ingredients together and serve. You can let it sit as well. The longer it sits the more the flavors infuse.
P.S. If you like dipping broccoli into ranch dip, try dipping our broccoli microgreens into this ranch dip recipe...it's amazing how similar it is and even more nutrient dense
